Bishop-Wisecarver Becomes Gold Sponsor of MakerGirl
Chicago, IL (July 12, 2021), MakerGirl announced a partnership with Bishop-Wisecarver, an industrial automation company offering proven linear and rotary motion solutions for harsh and extreme environments, to be one of the Gold Sponsors of the organization's virtual programming. The partnership will extend Bishop-Wisecarver’s mission to help students learn about STEM and the diverse opportunities in the manufacturing industry. The sponsorship includes providing scholarships for students to attend the program for free and the opportunity for employees to volunteer with MakerGirl.
“Sponsoring the MakerGirl program is an opportunity to promote STEM education to a large number of young females, helping them to learn skills and have confidence at this age so they can better pursue these interests as they move into high school, college and technical schools,” says Pamela Kan, Bishop-Wisecarver President. “Providing these programs is a vital step to fostering a love of STEM in girls which supports continued diversification of the manufacturing industry. The MakerGirl participants of 2021 will bring great strengths, ideas and skills to our future workforce.”
MakerGirl has kicked off the summer programming with both their Level I introduction to 3D printing offerings as well as their new Level II Inventor Series course. By the end of the level I sessions students become familiar with real world applications of 3D printing and gain a basic knowledge of CAD design. The goal of the level II is to boost students' STEM confidence in building and presenting as all MakerGirls present their project by the end of the experience and master creating their own project through the engineering design process.
“MakerGirl is excited to partner with a company that believes in the power of giving back to their community,” says MakerGirl CEO, Mary Hadley. “Bishop-Wisecarver will allow our organization to reach even more girls this summer through our virtual programming. As MakerGirl continues to grow, reach rural areas, and educate girls of all backgrounds, we are so grateful for Bishop-Wisecarver’s support to make this possible by providing scholarships for girls to attend MakerGirl Virtual Sessions and the opportunity for their employees to participate.”
MakerGirl’s virtual #MakerGirlGoesMobile will continue to host sessions throughout the summer. To learn more about the mission or register a MakerGirl in your life visit makergirl.us/register.
